[The seminar on high-performance inorganic fibers was successfully held]

A high-performance inorganic fiber seminar, supported by the China Association for Science and Technology and hosted by the China Textile Engineering Society, was recently held at the China Science and Technology Conference Hall. More than 20 front-line experts from universities, research institutes and enterprises engaged in exchanges and discussions on relevant topics.


This seminar is chaired by Xu Weilin, the Party Secretary of Wuhan Textile University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, with Chen Shichang, an associate professor at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, serving as the academic secretary. Xu Weilin emphasized that high-performance inorganic fibers have significant application value in national strategic emerging fields such as aerospace. This event is of great significance for promoting the development of high-performance inorganic fibers. He suggested that more interdisciplinary discussions between academia and industry be held, and that more cross-disciplinary application basic research on high-performance inorganic fibers be intensified.


During the keynote report session, Professor Wang Yingde, a council member of the Chinese Society of Space Sciences, delivered a report titled "Current Status and Trends of High-Performance Silicon Carbide Fibers and Their Products", elaborating on the synthesis mechanism, outstanding properties, development history, and application prospects in aerospace and other fields of silicon carbide fibers. He also showcased multiple research achievements and core technologies. It is pointed out that silicon carbide fibers possess excellent properties such as high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and electromagnetic resistance, and will play a significant role in fields like aero engines and hypersonic vehicles in the future. Hu Peiying, a lecturer from Wuhan Textile University, delivered a presentation titled "Further High-Performance and Multi-Functionalization of High-Performance Inorganic Fibers", emphasizing the increasing demand for high-performance fibers in fields such as aerospace, especially the higher requirements for their UV resistance and high-temperature resistance in extreme environments. She also shared the research results on enhancing fiber performance through surface modification technology.
